Scott Walker Raises $4.5 Million In Just Over A Month

Walker's press release stresses his contention that the donations represent the "small people" with approximately 16,000 contributing $50 0r less. Not said in his press release is this:

But under the surface, it becomes clear that Walker has been taking advantage of a key aspect of the state fundraising law for recalls — that until the election is officially triggered, the targeted incumbent can bring in unlimited donations.

For example, the Wisconsin State Journal reports that Walker raised $1 million in a week from just four people — including a familiar name from the 2004 election cycle:

Walker brought in another $250,000 from billionaire Texas home builder Bob Perry, meaning he has received $500,000 from Perry, who is known for financing the “swift boat” ads targeting 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry.

Walker also received $250,000 from David Humphreys of Tamko Building Products in Joplin, Missouri, and another $250,000 from Sarah Atkins of Tamko.

Stanley Herzog of Herzog Contracting in Missouri gave Walker $250,000.

Walker is taking full advantage that until the recall is "official" he's not officially in campaign mode -- so he can take all the money he wants. Always looking out for the people! The powerful and phenomenally wealthy people, that is.

If you have evidence of your contention, perhaps you could write a seed documenting it on your column.

More state rights money coming from out of state. Way to go Republicans, keep exposing the lies you tell, and tell and tell.

There's something awfully wrong, when a sitting GOV has to gallivant around the country, grubbing for money to fend off his own constituents...Way to go GOP.

Walker had a big fundraiser last week -- I believe it was in New York--- but it certainly was not in Wisconsin. T his boy's support is not local, and not grassroots by any means.
